Dr. Joe began his undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California majoring in biological sciences. After receiving his bachelor of science degree and graduating magna cum laude, he entered optometry school at the Southern California College of Optometry. While in optometry school, Dr. Joe had the opportunity to be exposed to a diverse patient population with internships at the Veterans Administration hospital in Brentwood, Center for the Partially Sighted in Santa Monica, Kaiser Permanente Ophthalmology / Optometry section, and Norton Air Force Base. Following his graduation from optometry school, he pursued an additional year of specialized residency training in contact lenses, receiving instruction from the staff of SCCO and Doheny Eye Institute of USC. During his residency he completed a research project focusing on orthokeratology (a non-surgical vision correction procedure), and also had extensive training in fitting specialized contact lenses on diseased and post-surgical eyes.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Joe was employed as an associate optometrist at a private practice that specialized in hard-to-fit contact lenses. During that time, he was also on staff at the Southern California College of Optometry teaching new optometric interns. In 1997, Dr. Joe opened his new private practice in Walnut, California, specializing in complicated contact lenses fits. Since the opening, his goal has been to provide the highest level of eyecare services to all of his patients.
